Ceramic Urns

All the urns are made by the Waldbruder-Werke are handmade. Urns can also be made just for you using your own design and materials.

Clay Urns

You can find a further selection of classic urns made from fired clay, either untreated or glazed, in a variety of shapes and colours, in our showroom.

Water urns

Burials at sea and the scattering of ashes are permitted in Switzerland. These urns, made of unfired clay, are water-soluble. Once released, they sink and dissolve. Care should be taken during transport. Hand-picked wildflowers are ideal for farewell ceremonies held near the water.

Biodegradable Plastic Urns

Urns made from biodegradable plastic are free from harmful substances, can be buried in the ground and break down over time. One range of urns is produced using a 3D printer. These urns are made primarily from pressed salt and compressed sand.

Cardboard Urns

Cardboard urns are practical and unobtrusive for scattering ashes in the countryside. Made from recyclable cardboard, the cardboard urns themselves can be recycled or reused.

Fabric Urns

The embroidered fabric urns are made either from velvet (100% cotton) or linen. Inside the fabric pouch is a sealed ash capsule made from biodegradable plastic.

Metal Urns

Metal and steel urns are lightweight yet relatively sturdy and are available in a matt or glossy finish. The Sternenwächter urns are handcrafted in Switzerland and feature a gold-plated emblem. The urns can also be rented for funerals and ceremonies.

Copper Urns

These sturdy, classic copper urns are decorated with relief patterns; with a patina finish, some with a high-gloss lacquer and others polished, they remain weather-resistant even after 30 years.

Standard Crematorium Urns

The standard cremation urn, sometimes referred to as a municipal urn, is made either of copper or of biodegradable plastic with a copper-effect finish. The crematoria in Olten, Aarau and Langenthal use slightly different standard urns.

Memorial Urns & Memorial Flowers

Memorial urns are small vessels in which a portion of the deceased person’s ashes can be taken home or buried in the countryside. These self-illuminating alabaster urns are unique pieces due to their distinctive grain. An LED light is located inside the hollow chamber. The colour temperature can be adjusted to the room temperature using a remote control. The small spheres are memorial urns; the large, column-like urn has a standard capacity. The very pleasant, translucent stone should not be exposed to the elements. The memorial rose and water lily, handcrafted, keep the memory of a loved one alive in a unique way. A tiny amount of the deceased’s ashes is incorporated into the delicate petals. Each rose is a unique piece and available to order only. Production takes approximately 5 days. The flowers contain phosphorescent particles which charge up in sunlight, gently release this light at dusk and thus glow subtly from within. The flowers are firm and durable, but will dissolve (biodegradable) if buried in a river or lake during a farewell ceremony.

A synthetic diamond can be created by compressing the carbon from ashes or hair using a complex process. The memorial diamond is a symbol of eternity, light and appreciation. It serves as a deeply personal place of mourning, remembrance and joy. This keepsake is kept or refined individually by the bereaved; your trusted goldsmith will be happy to advise you on this. Gifts of condolence

Grief can literally knock you off your feet. Everyone copes with the loss of a loved one in their own way. Breathe in. Breathe out. That is all that is needed in the first moment. Conscious breathing helps you to be present in the here and now, even when the pain is overwhelming. If you are supporting someone who is grieving and you are at a loss for words, simply being there can help. Perhaps you do not want to visit the bereaved empty-handed; in that case, we offer a small selection of condolence gifts. Mourning gifts glow with their own light in the form of a small candle in the ‘Constellation of Hope’, or float as wish boats with sails inscribed by the sender and a tea light. The ‘Constellation of Hope’ is a small light box with a seafaring story. It depicts the starry sky and brings light and hope in dark times. With the wish boat, you can send final wishes on their way. You make a wish for yourself and bid a solemn farewell to what has been. The grief map offers you guidance. It shows you where you are in the grieving process. Let flowers grow from your tears. Bee-friendly blooms grow from the teardrop-shaped seed balls. Anger is often seen as taboo in times of grief. Yet anger is a normal emotion. The two anger capsules with the angry pen help you not to suppress this feeling, but to give it a meaningful place. We also have incense sticks, Aura-Soma Pomanders and a small library of personal accounts on various forms of loss. You are also welcome to borrow books.

Grief Workshop with Card Printing

In our small workshop, you’ll find everything you need to express your grief, offer your condolences or simply preserve your memories. We can also help you produce cards in larger quantities, for example on handmade paper. Bring joy back into your daily life. You can find examples of handmade cards under ‘personalised obituaries’.

Coffins

The most common form of burial today is cremation. As a rule, a standard cremation coffin is used for this purpose – the first one shown in the gallery below. You will also find further models for cremation or burial in our showroom at the office. In addition, we can arrange for prompt delivery of any coffin from the Egli range (link below), customised to your specifications, at any time.
